Renewable Energy Installations

Renewable energy installations have many advantages over traditional heating systems:

  • Higher efficiency rate on domestic heating and hot water compared to electric immersion heaters and gas boilers - reducing annual energy consumption
  • Can be integrated into existing heating systems or new builds

Solar Panels

Solar panels capture free heat from sunlight and use it to heat water. The panels are easy to install and maintain. Solar energy can heat almost all the hot water required for an average household during the summer months and generally provides around 50-70% of the average annual requirement.

Heat Pumps

Heat pumps use energy absorbed from the external air or ground to generate heat. The principle is similar to that in which a refrigerator extracts heat from within itself. Modern heat pumps are efficient enough to generate heat even when the outside temperature is as low as -15°C.

Ground Source Heat Pump

Ground source heat pumps use the natural energy stored in the Earth to heat your home. This provides you with low cost heating and hot water using sustainable energy — helping to conserve non-renewable fossil fuels.

There are a number of different ground source heat pumps designed to suit each individual building's requirements. Ground source heat pumps can be installed almost anywhere.

Air Heat Pump

Air heat pumps are ideal for buildings where it is not possible to install a ground source heat pump and can reduce heating costs by around 50% compared to a traditional system. Air heat pumps are generally used to compliment traditional heating systems and can deliver up to around 80% of the annual requirement of heating and hot water for an average household.

There are two main types of air heat pump:

  1. Air to Water System: Designed to provide the whole household with heating and hot water all year round
  2. Air to Air System: Designed to act as a heating and cooling system for the home
